August 2009
Trying to get back in the swing of things these days.
Been a long, hot and hard summer so far!
I am trying to catch up with all my friends and their campaigns or just checking in to say “HI”!
If I am forgetting someone, please send me the links and I will get to them. You can even email me the link which will get my attention quicker then leaving a message on BF. Just go to CUsmile@comcast.net and leave your link, etc.
Mason finally left to go back to School in Arizona. He also took the car full of stuff for his new apartment plus his bike.
He decided he did not want the scooter and it was cheaper to give him the car full of stuff and his bike then in was to try and ship everything down to him. He STILL wanted us to ship the Scooter…but, uh…NO! Papa is going to use it to save money on gas going to and from work.
Papa’s co-workers have gas powered scooters which, even though they use less gas, are not as green as the electric ones. So, I am excited to see Papa show off how “Green” he is and hopefully motivate them into getting electric ones also. He works for the Port here and they are big on cleaning up our local environment, especially the waterfront. So, I think Papa will be setting a good example to them all, especially the directors, on being environmentally responsible.
And since we live in the woods, it is nice to know we are not polluting up the air with exhaust or noise! (I think they are more quiet then the gas powered ones!)
This was a great win for us and we REALLY appreciate all the support from everyone, you guys really helped us out in so many ways. I would be here for days telling you how many ways it will help and change our lives for the better, not to mention the environment.
I am also glad to see the other winners that won, a few that I also supported and had great entries. There were so many and I was so proud to be a part of this important, educational and eye opening campaign!
I have been under the weather quite a bit, so I have not even been caught up with posting on my blog, much less my projects, yard work and house work.
Soon, I am sure I will get better and get it together. Until then, bear with me as I slowly get things taken care of. It is really helpful having every ones support and kind words when I come here. Thanks so much, it is what heals me.
Don't forget to visit my blog and get the latest scoop C U Smile!
I think you will all be proud to know that my son, in his first year at ASU, was able to break records, come in second Nationally in Indoor Track and 11th World wide, and even though he got horribly ill during the swine flu outbreak he was still able to qualify to go to the US Championships to compete with the pros for a chance to go to World and be on the Olympic team! He was sick for almost the whole outdoor season, so he was not able to compete, or if he did compete, he could not catch his breath. So he suffered quite a bit and did not make it past the prelims at the US Championships.
But, we could not be more proud of his accomplishments. Can you imagine how far he would have gone if he did not get sick?
Will keep up with him this year and hope it goes well with no illnesses or injuries!
This is Mason as he crossed the finish line. For some reason, to me it looks like he is just out for a run compared to the folks behind him that seem to be struggleing.
Please pray for him this year!

It is all about my last chick that is about to fly from the nest!
He flys like an eagle, swift and majestic, and proud.
He makes us proud and it is an honor to watch him spread his wings as he becomes a man.
Update:
Now he has been gone half a year and we miss him so. Though, even when he was here, we hardly ever saw him except when it was to see him run.
We went down for his first D-1 Race at UofW. He ran the 800m heat. His time was 149.7! Made him second in the school record and number 3 in the PAC-10! So many kids from his school on a couple other schools in our area where running or participating also. I think the stadium was full of folks from our county alone!
It was good to see him, especially when he came in second in his heat and saw his time. We are proud and can't wait to go down to see him in a couple weeks. Maybe he will be over the "nervousness" of his first race and kick some.....ummm...you know! I will post some info on my blog at http://cusmile2day.blogspot... soon if you want to "Read all about it" in the papers!
