Description: "Medicine For Melancholy" is the critically acclaimed independent film about two African-American twenty-somethings coming to terms with modern day San Francisco. In anticipation of the film's release, Strike Anywhere Films and IFC invite you to find images that reflect the film's blend of romance, politics and the undeniable importance of place. Whether you're in Seattle, New York, Des Moines or wherever, we want to see how your city inspires you and how it effects the romantic, social and political aspects of your life. Watch the trailer to get a sense of the film's themes and the way it incorporates San Francisco, then go out and capture photos that best represent your relationship to the city you call home. The three best photos will be featured on the "Medicine For Melancholy" website and the Grand Prize winner will receive an official “Medicine For Melancholy” poster signed by writer/director, Barry Jenkins and lead actors, Wyatt Cenac and Tracey Heggins, have their winning photo featured on the Medicine for Melancholy website, plus receive a collection of select IFC films on DVD and $1,000 cash or scholarship.

How to Submit:
  1. After watching the "Medicine for Melancholy" video, click the "Submit Entry" tab to upload your photo into the Brickfish Entry Editor. Be sure to add a thoughtful description on how your city effects the romantic, social and political aspects of your life.
  2. Click the Submit button.
  3. Tell your friends to come to Brickfish and vote for your entry!
Requirements: Entry must be original work of the entrant. Entry must be a photograph with description that reflects how the entrant is inspired by his/her city in the context of romance, politics or local issues. All entries must include the provided movie logo and release date to be eligible to win. You may enter as many unique entries as you’d like. Please do not submit duplicate entries. Any entry that violates copyright protection or the Brickfish Terms of Use will be disqualified and removed.
