Sometimes in life we discover that things are not always what they seem.  A good example of this is the video I submitted to the Underground Drive Thru.
For example, as you may be aware, all the graffiti has been digitally added to the scenes.

But you probably didn't know that the graffiti has hidden messages.  Most of the time, graffiti consists of people spray painting their names to show off to their friends.  In 8 Mics, all the graffiti (except song title) was carefully worded to express my likes and desires.  See if you can spot these words in the video:

Heart & Soul
Old School
(Live for) Better Days
VNK (stands for Vince & Kelly <--my wife)
Kel (my nickname for Kelly)
San Diego
Dope 3D
Get Off My Cloud
Peace

You'll also notice some caricatures of myself spray painting the graffiti.

One here:      Another here:

Adding these images made sense to me.

There's also several references to fire throughout the video, both in live action, and included as background for much of the graffiti. These represent the fire signs of Leo & Aries (I am a Leo and Nasty-O is an Aries).

I would not have collaborated with Nasty-O (real name Omar) if I wasn't impressed with him and his lyrical content. For example, the chorus to 8 Mics goes like this:
Source better make more Mics for me, because if New York has 5 Mics, (you) better add 3.
Many of you don't know that The Source is a Hip Hop magazine based from New York.  They review Hip Hop albums and rate them on a scale of 1 to 5 Mics.  Many artists have felt that they are biased being on the East coast and have always given 5 Mic ratings only to East coast based albums, never to West coast music.  Now look at the chorus again (in the video) and you'll notice that whenever Nasty-O says:   ..."you better add 3" he throws up a sign for the West coast which also is 3 fingers. Get it? He wants the West coast to be recognized for its music.

Some other things to look out for in the video are little skull faces that appear in groups throughout the video.  These represent magical spirits (an homage to Princess Mononoke).  Whenever these faces are present, it means you are approaching a magical place. The more faces you see, the deeper the magic.  That's why they increase in numbers right before he goes into that magical white room where he battles himself.

The 'white room' scene was actually my old studio room where I created 8 Mics.  The door he walks up to was actually my house and the hallway was my actual hallway that lead to my studio room. It was me (in my cameo) who let him in and who led him to the 'white room'. It seemed only fitting that the magic place he goes to for his 'self-battle' was actually my studio room where the video was created.

Now that I've let you in on a couple of interesting facts, I hope you will support local music and independent video production. Just follow the link:

I am feeling rather anxious and excited at the prospect of a new Independent Music Video that I am developing. It is going to be a Short Movie Music Video incorporating Film Noir shooting techniques and some really cool zombies! Yes, Zombies! I feel my horror roots taking control again. It seems like the right time to do this. I am in the process of storyboarding and will probably then move on to the design of the various zombie makeups. I will be funding this video myself so I have to try and not spend too much money. I am so psyched, though! Maybe I'll call on some Brickfish friends to get involved with this. We'll see!

I've been itching for some really yummy home cooked food. I think I will make some ceviche à la Niebla.  I use shrimp instead of fish.  In case you care, ceviche is raw fish (or shrimp) cooked in lemon juice, marinated with fresh onion, jalapeño, tomato, cilantro & some spices served on a tostada shell with a thin (I said thin!) layer of mayo.  What you get is a tangy, spicy, crunchy taste of heaven.
Ooh and then follow that up with frijoles puercos con queso fresco! (bacon & chorizo flavored beans with farmer's cheese)
My mouth is watering... gotta go.
RHYMES?!
