I consider my entire family to be Eco Champions .

We recycle aluminum, glass, newspapers, magazines, telephone books and plastic. My Mom takes reusable bags to the grocery store when she shops. If she does bring home plastic grocery bags, they are reused or taken back to the store for their recycling bin. We are switching out all our light bulbs for the new CFL energy efficient ones.

We have a pump that brings water up from a nearby creek to use for outdoor watering.

My parents drive fuel-efficient cars and schedule errands to be done all at the same time and nearby to one another.

My Mom tries to clean with more natural products like vinegar, bleach and baking soda instead of using items with more chemicals.

My Dad works for a printing company. When his company orders supplies and the vendors deliver the items, he brings home the used cardboard boxes, shipping peanuts and bubble wrap and then we reuse them when we send out packages. Sometimes he brings home paper that isn't needed anymore and we use it in our printer.

When all these things are added together, my family spends many hours a week on our green efforts.

If I win, my green cause is Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful, an organization in my community that promotes going green. http://www.gwinnettcb.org/
