A Hero - someone you look up to, who you respect who influence your daily actions.  A Hero- someone who encourages you when you are down and need a little boost in your life. A Hero- someonewho is always there. someone or something you can turn to to feel safe from the world. Muse, a guiding spirit, a source of inspiration. a muse give you that spark of creativity and gets your mind flowing with thoughts and ideas. Anything or anyone can be a hero or a muse to you. anyone or anything that has helped you in some sort of way. anyone or anything that has inspired you in what you do. anyone or anything that you fell safe listenign too, looking at, being around. To me music is my muse. one bad in particular; 30 seconds to mars.
    Dating back in 1998 when the band played the first show at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, Ontario under different names to when in 2002 they officaly became 30 seconds to mars. To the time i ran into them on a school trip o new york, to the time i got to go to my first show; March 30th 2006. To the time i meet online fans at their shows. To the time i meet them after their shows. to the time that i started creating artwork through the meaning of their songs, they have inspired me, they have been my muse. I couldn't go about calling them my Hero becasue the have not done something to drastic in my life o give them that status, but i can call them my muse. my Grade 12 finale art project was based off of one of their songs. the exploration of different mediums, etching in a mirror, weaving yarn through a bed of nails, painting on canvas with hand sewn faces, plaster sculture.  inspirations from their music. inspiration from what i was feelin when i was listening to them. it is not just their music that has inpsired me but also their symology.
   this here is a photo of some of their symbol. Their fans each with their own meanings for each smbol. this is a photo of the same symbols but in a differet style. we have found out that these symbols resemble those of the iberan alphabet.  their symbols and iconography keep a hidden myster to the band. this is something else that inspires me. this photo is an example od most of their iconogrphy. if you were to ask me what each thing ment i would simply tell you that you wil find out on your own. each symbol represents something different to everyone.
    30 seconds to mars, and inspiration to my work, they are my muse. they are one hing that keeps my art going.

    Why not combine the two into a fun Brikfish Battle of the bands?

What makes me feel alive?


  The thrill of being at a concert. The anticipation you have, waiting for the band to hit the stage, and when the band comes on stage and they strike that first note you've been born again.  Every show a start of a new life, a start of something new, you can finally feel Alive.

     When you were a child did you ever just pick up an object in your house, like a spoon, and start banging it everywhere? The sound that the spoon made hitting everything around you, the table, the chairs the walls, your moms favorite vase, it all sounding amazing to you. You were composing your own soundtrack and the littlest things hitting each other added to the piece to make it even more that it was. 
                   This is similar to what Street Drum Corps do. SDC uses instruments such as hand drums, acoustic drum kits, buckets, kitchenware, recycled aluminum garbage cans, marching band equipment and a Moog Theremin. (www.streetdrumcorps.com) the reaction these instruments make when they hit each other creates such a wonderful beat, it brings back those memories. To be given the chance to meet Bobby Alt, Frank Zummo, and Adam Alt (the members of SDC) it would mean the world to me. The connections they share with their crowds while performing is phenominal, you can feel the power of their drums with each hit of their drum sticks.

when you watch this video you might see or you might not see why i love them so much. Just think, a girl who as a child dreaming of exactly what this band is doing and being able to meet the ones who have made her dream come true. To use such instruments to create this kind of reaction!
