http://www.brickfish.com/lila221lilac Please don't think that this entry is a ploy to get more attention for her campaign. It is more my way of bringing attention to a wonderful lady with many wonderful ideas about how to be more Earth Friendly. Ashley has touch the hearts and minds of many members here as well as in other places, and it is people like her that will continue to fight the small battles that will eventually win the war against self destruction here on our Home Planet. And she is an advocate of broccoli promotion as well!
It had been a long month of working 60 hour weeks at the factory, so when I finally got a day off I decided to treat my wife to a shopping spree at the Sandusky Mall. We walked around for awhile, making small purchases at Debs, Wilson's Leather, and Bath and Body Works. Don't get me wrong, I love to spend time with her, but I can only spend so much time in these types of shops before I start getting tired of shopping. "Why don't you get your nails done while I run in to Sears for a minute?". The lunch we ate at that Mexican restaurant earlier was good, but it doesn't stay with you very long. Sears had the closest facilities available, so off I went. 45 minutes later, Jan was getting worried, so she came in search of her missing husband. Walking through the electronics department, she found me. Standing...staring... mesmerized by the picture that was on the television of my dreams. It was a 42" plasma tv, complete with surround sound system, DVD player/recorder, and yes...a 3in1 multifunction remote control! She could tell how badly I wanted it by the drool string dangling off my lower lip. "Let's buy it", she said. I was in shock that she would suggest it, knowing that I never buy anything for myself, especially something this fantastic. "I don't even know where we would put it; maybe another time, okay?" My mouth said no, but my brain was saying "you fool"! As we left the store, my wife stopped to look at new purses (she only has 50 of them now). One in particular caught her eye, so I said "If you want it, get it". "Nah, I don't need it" she said, as she put it back on the rack, so we left the store without it. The next day was a normal day. I went to work, I came home. My wife met me at the door with a smile and said "you have an old friend waiting for you in the family room". I walked up the stairs, and what is the first thing I see? My fantasy television, hanging on the wall with a big red ribbon on it! I sit down in my recliner, pick up the remote (it fit in my hand perfectly), and push the "ON" button...beep, beep, beep... ..."No, why me?" I thought as I turned off the alarm. Once again it was only a dream. I get my morning coffee and sit in my recliner, staring at the bare wall where my fantasy had almost become reality. I should have known it was only a dream when she didn't buy that purse.
