Ice starts to melt, snow disappears and days start to get warmer. That is when I know summer is just around the corner.
Lakes and ponds unfreeze and life starts to show. The trout begin to jump, the frogs come out to play, and the horse flies start to bite.
Flowers pop their heads out of the last bits of snow to say hello. Time to start gardening, don't let those weeds grow!!!! Plant your corn, broccoli, peas, tomatoes and watch them grow. Surely you'll have a feast before the next snow.
Bears awaken from their long winter nap, ready to feast so hide your cat!!! Birds migrate back north to their homes, where they find worms galore. Out of curiosity I like to find out how many people actually read blogs that people wright. So I ask of you to please include this secret word in your review, lama. Thank you. :) Deers come out to say hello to anyone passing through, so get your cameras ready and not askew.
That is how I know when it is time for summer. When mother earth comes back to life.

Man are my pets spoiled!!! For those of you who know Lizzy, a sweet little puppy, you know she is so SPOILED it's not even funny!!! Here she is with some of her toys, key word here is some!!! She has her own couch, no one but her can sit on it. Every weekend she even gets a deluxe breakfast, we scramble her an egg and she gets all our leftovers from our breakfast.
Then we have the sugar gliders. They are maybe the most pampered of them all. Every night they get their dinner, what do I give them?? Well, the best of the best. They have a hard boiled egg, mixed veggies(green beans, carrots, corn and peas), strawberries, blueberries, apple, tofu, and fresh corn on the cob. Thats not al though, I also spoon feed them yogurt mixed with nutritional yeast every single morning. They love it!!!!
As for beds....I would say they have maybe 20 in each cage... Some hang from the top of the cage, some are on the side Then they have a shoe box filled with polortec so they can snuggle.
We also have a Kitty, her name is Kiki. She adopted us a few months ago and she is not our pet we are hers. She is the queen. (Like I have done in the past, I would like to see how many people actually read blogs. So please if you read this could you please mention something about.....lets say an elephant. :) )Kiki only gets the best of food like all our other animals. A cup of wet food in the morning and a little cup of milk to go with it. Then at night the restaurant across the street saves all his left over fish for her, she pigs out on that!!!
Toys? What toys?? She only has a kitty castle, millions of mice, only five feathers, a scratching post and the all the birds out on the bird feeder.... As for beds, wells the world is her bed.
So who feeds those iguanas? Yep it's us, guilty as charged!!!!! They love us though, or do they love the food.... Well, anyway we feed them apple and banana every single day and we love em!!!!! You can see this guy claimed the whole plate for himself, he would not move for anything....

Something entertaining? Ok
Sometimes at school, I am just to lazy to trek all the way to the courtyard. So I like to eat my lunch in the art room and work on some of my projects. Plus Its nice and quite and I can listen to my ipod!!!!!
One day I was painting, having a jolly old time. The art teacher decides that she has to go make some copies. Normally there are a few people like myself who enjoy the quiet of the art room and stay during lunch, well that day I was all by myself.
So, I had my ipod on and started to rock out, now I was not just singing along (paint brushes make excellent mics!!) I also was dancing (very badly). I was having some fun. My painting turned out quite interesting too!!!
Sometime when I was performing my very dorky dance moves my art teacher snuck in the back door. I had my music blasting so I was completely unaware. So after my air guitar (you may mock me) I turned around and was still dancing. There was my teacher sitting on a stool, arms crossed, smiling and very slowly shaking her head. I turned off my music and she said "I leave you alone for one minute, and you start to play air guitar? What am I going to do with you Jessica"
I blushed and of course asked how long she had been there. Se told me that she has seen more bad dancing in past 10 min then she has seen in her whole life.
m>
Please excuse the heads....

The Sequel!!!!!!
Thought you guys would enjoy....... Ok, we all know that I am a klutz, right? Well today I proved it!!!! Guess where? Yes thats right......the Art Room!!!!!
I was in ceramics, glazing my pot, everything was going wonderfful. Then I needed to switch to another color glaze, so I went to the sink to wash out my brushes. Well My foot slipped and kinda stuck to the floor at the same time. Right in front of me was the sink (we have a huge tub-like sink so that more then one person can use it) and just guess where I landed. Your right......head first into the sink.
I quickly recovered and did the first thing anyone would do, look to see if anyone saw me. I looked back and the girl who was right behind me she immediately said "Yes I saw" and then laughed....
So first my bad dancing....now I end up in the sink...

Please do not just vote to vote, I would really like to hear what you think and I would really appreciate it if you would Please not leave copy and paste messages. Oh and feel free to correct me on any of my Grammar or Spelling, not my strong point.
How am I Eco-Fabulous? I am a vegetarian and try and create the smallest footprint on the earth as I can; I hope not one at all. Also as some of you know, I enjoyed many summers teaching kids how to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Music fits, no? By the way this was their favorite song to dance to at out weekly dance parties. And my story starts…..
I attended an environmental camp for four years up in Alaska I loved it so much that when I got too old I volunteered. Then I stuck around so much that they decided to pay me for all I did and I became an environmental education camp counselor for the Alaska Center For The Environment. It was really the best experience of my life.
Preschool was my thing, what can I say, I love little kids. Every week we had a different theme. One week we would be Flying Friends, the next Creepy Crawlers, then Water Wonders, after that Spirit Keepers (my fav) and lastly Forest Prowlers. You can basically tell what we explored in that week by the title, except for Spirit Keepers.
Spirit Keepers was amazing!!!!!! In that week we would explore the Alaskan Native American culture. We would take a trip to the Alaskan Native American Center, we made authentic birch bark baskets (no trees were harmed by us, they were clearing a nearby by field to build a baseball field, even though they had another one two blocks over :s ) made our own string out of stinging nettle and learned how to make our own fire starting kits. I am doing a little experiment here just to see how many people actually read blogs, so if you got this far please incorporate the word banana in your review. Thank you!! You may also ask me any Native American tale and I will gladly tell it, we had to memorize them all so we could tell it on the spot. It was an experience and a half.
Anyway, got a little off track there. Even though we had a different theme every day we did follow a similar routine. After our morning snack we would go play some running games. Then we had a different lesson prepared each day on our subject of the week. After that they got a little antsy, we took a hike to a field and played some more games, read a book (Dear, Mother Earth is my fav), headed back for lunch, took a little nap, and then it was off to more running games until their parents came. Yes, we did a lot of running games, and I can tell you they run really fast. It was actually kind of pathetic that they could outrun me….
We had many lesson’s. Here is one that I can remember. We would take a little bucket of water and tell them to put on their imaging caps and pretend that that is all the water on earth. Then we would take out a little more then half out and that is all the salt water. So all we have is this little bit of water for everybody on the earth to drink. Then we would have to take out even more water to represent the ice on the earth. Now the kids are usually shocked at how much we have left to drink, but it’s not over yet. Now we would take a dropper and take out a little smidge of water and put that in a petri dish. All the water in that little bucket human kind has polluted, that little drop that is all we have left. After our little demonstration we would then appoint a president, that would usually be my job, and we would have to come up with ideas of how we can help conserve our water. Then the president, me, would have to present the ideas to the public during TDC radio, our pretend radio program that would broadcast all over the world during lunch.
If anyone has the urge, here are some of the photos that I took of those crazy kids. : P
The kids!!!

Late one Saturday evening I was walking home from the store paying no attention to what was going on around me, iPod in ears. I know, I know it's not safe to walk around listing to music especially in New York City, but what can I say I love music. Then the worst yet best (you'll see) thing happened my iPod died. I almost cried it was so sad!!!! I can't live without my music!!!!
So I started to pay some attention to where I was going, which was good since I was going the wrong direction. No, I did not notice before, like I said I was not paying any attention to where I was headed before. So I got back on track and two blocks over I heard the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. Someone was singing I had to go see who it was even though I had melting ice cream in the bag I was carrying which I would really regret later.
Anyway, I was on a mission!!!! Off I went, with ice-cream all over my shoes in search for the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. I had tracked it down (finally, I was starting to get tired) to this old building. The doors were chained shut and there was this green, slimy moss substance growing on it. Yuck!!!!! Talk about creepy crawly!!!!!
No way in to see who I was seeking, I kind of got bummed until I noticed this little hole in the side of the building. Curiosity getting the better of me, I peeked in. What I saw I will always remember. There was this girl dancing so gracefully and singing so eloquently that I think I started crying. She was singing her heart out and expressing her deepest emotions with that dance. This girl thought she was in a place that no one would see her, or criticize her for being just herself. That would be true if I was not standing there.
Then people started to gather, they couldn't help it what she was doing was absolutely gorgeous. She remained oblivious to the fact of people watching her. People started to wonder and question, how did she get in there? With it sealed up so tight how could anyone. Then a local to the area (the block we were on) told us that that building had long ago been condemned and they were demolishing it tomorrow. She kept dancing and singing without a care.
I turned around for a second to see who the local was; she disappeared, vanished into thin air. So did everybody around me, except for the local. He told me the girls story, a tragic one at that, and too common. One I will leave you to guess.
So I walked away with a new frame of mind and a very, very soggy shoe. Seeing that all the ice cream had melted and the milk I had just bought had decided to leak. Why me? What did my shoes do to deserve such torment? It was worth it though, I came away with much, much more then just a soggy shoe, I came away with a different perspective.
Her song stays with me to this day and I will never forget it. "Through my mind flow words I can not speak opinions I form that I dare not share, who want to know what I think? When no one cares?" When I close my eyes anytime I want, I can see her swaying to and fro. So sad, and so touching.
Yes this was all a work of fiction, none of this actually happened; I just had fun writing it. Hope you enjoyed my story!!!!!! Jessica

Ok, I have thought long and hard if I should enter this or not and I have finally decided to enter. This is just for fun, so I would really love to know what you honestly think. Don’t just vote to vote, please.
My hero is not someone close to me, but rather someone many people admire. His name is Davey Havok he is in the band AFI and he has a side project called Blaqk Audio. I do not like him for his looks, but for his intelligence and the choices he has made in his life.
He is straight edge and so am I. For people who do not know what that means, it's a system of beliefs that you live by. He does not drink, do drugs, nor is he involved in any violence. I admire that while he is in the music industry he remains true to these beliefs. It's something we can all look up to and maybe follow in his example.
Also he writes the most inspirational lyrics I have ever read or heard. You can talk to people on the AFI message boards and many of them will tell you that AFI has saved their lives, literally. Either they were deep into drugs, in abusive relationships, or even suicidal, and then they heard his lyrics, and they touched them so much they stopped their destructive behavior and wanted to live to see another day. I look up to that, to be able to touch so many people like that, it’s amazing!!
Davey tells this story about when he just got off stage. He walked off and saw this big guy coming up to him. Not fat, but muscular. He was starting to get a little afraid, as he a little frail. Then he sees that there is mascara running down this guy's cheeks from tears. So this guy comes up and gives Davey a huge hug and tells him that he cried during This Time Imperfect and continued to spill his most personal feelings to him while crying. His music and lyrics created this environment, it's ok to cry, ok to express your emotions. He gave this guy, and many others a positive outlet for their emotions. Not many people can do that.
The most important thing I think, is how he is as a person. If you are invited to a meet and greet or stay after a show and get to a meet him you are very lucky. People say that he is the sweetest and most intelligent person they have ever meet. Also I have heard stories of people sending fan mail and receiving hand written letters back. That tells a lot about him. It tells me he cares about his fans, he is not just saying he owes it all to the fans, but he really means it.
Well that is why he is my hero. If you do nothing else, check out his music. I am 99% sure you will love it. On my profile page I have one of his songs, This Time Imperfect. Also here is an interview of him. What I really want you to see in this video is at -2:35

Will you join me in this dance of misery,
cradled in impossibility?
Swooning, am swept away, and swept off my feet.

And we dance in misery, all lost into the shadows.
Will you lend yourself to beauty that will horrify?

Our mouths filled with dust, we kissed in the fields and under trees,
screaming like dogs, bleeding dark into the leaves.
It was empty on the edge of town but we knew everyone floated along the bottom of the river so we walked through

Do you find me dreadful?
What a shame such a sad disgrace,
Such a pretty face,
But she's not regretful.
Am I beautiful?
Am I usable?

The sky had come crashing down like the news of an intimate suicide.
We picked up the shards and formed them into shapes of stars that wore like an antique wedding dress.
The echoes of the past broke the hearts of the unborn as the ferrous wheel silently slowed to a stop.
The few insects skittered away in hopes of a better pastime.
I kissed you at the apex of the maelstrom and asked if you would accompany me in a quick fall,

how they look like the tears upon your cheeks,
how they fall as fast as they appear,
they fall so far, can you catch them?

Somethings you see,
Somethings you hear,
but some things you just know.
You said, "The cinders are falling like snow."
There is poetry in despair, and we sang with unrivaled beauty, bitter elegies of savagery and eloquence. Of blue and grey. Strange, we ran down desperate streets and carved our names in the flesh of the city.
The sun has stagnated somewhere beyond the rim of the horizon and the darkness is a mystery of curves and lines.
Still, we lay under the emptiness and drifted slowly outward and
somewhere in the wilderness we found salvation scratched into the earth like a message. ~Davey Havok
A secret is a secret,
A silent whisper upon the wind,
when you set your secret free,
What is it then,
No longer a silent whisper upon the wind ~Jessica

Meeting our favorite rock star, what would it be like? Would he be funny? Would she be stuck-up and snobby? We all ask these questions. I would like to meet Davey Havok of AFI. I know what you are thinking, she has a crush on him. Well I don't. I just share his opinions on a lot of stuff, and I think he is the most sane. We have the same views on alcohol, we don't drink. Every weekend I watch my classmates go and get drunk, I stay at home and read a good book. So if I meet him, I would know he's not drunk. For me that is important, I know so many people who get drunk every night, I don't need to meet another. Also when I watch him in interviews, he is not an air head or even worse a teenybopper. He has a head on his shoulders, and he's not afraid to use it. He actually knows what he is talking about, and is not afraid to tell you his views on one matter or another. That is a good trait, and I would love to have a conversation with someone like that. We would probably wander to a starbuck for chi tea and a muffin. Talk about lyrics he wrights. Have a good old time chatting away. Here are some of her lyrics and one of his extreemly funny interviews!!!
"This Celluloid Dream"
Calling tears from deep inside, oh, you're so exquisite
And in the mirror, all midnight eyes
Oh, if I could remain, but it's just a visit
All midnight eyes read "vacancy"
Twisted, twisting
To the lovely dancing lights, I begged, "May I cut in?"
But they never stopped playing "their song"
Of a joyous song they sing, I've heard whispers
On a freezing note, I resonate
Just like romantic verses, just like a joyous end
Just like a memory, it twists me
Just like romantic verses, just like a joyous end
Twist... twisting me
You land as lightly as the new snow, cinematic
Onto the melting boy, and melt away
You light as gently, you're so cinematic
Bathed in your radiance, I melt
In the glitter, in the dark, sunk into velvet
Praying this will never end
In the shadow of a star, in static pallor
I realized I never began
Just like romantic verses, just like a joyous end
Just like a memory, it twists me
Just like romantic verses, just like a joyous end
Twist... twisting me
You land as lightly as the new snow, cinematic
Onto the melting boy, and melt away
You light as gently, you're so cinematic
Bathed in your radiance, I melt
All the colours upon leaving, all will turn to grey
All the colours upon leaving, all will turn to grey
(All grey) All the colours (All grey) upon leaving
(All grey) all will turn to grey
(All grey) All the colours (All grey) upon leaving
(All grey) all will turn to grey... grey... twisting me
You land as lightly as the new snow, cinematic
Onto the melting boy, and melt away
You light as gently, you're so cinematic
Bathed in your radiance
You land as lightly as the new snow, cinematic
You land as lightly as the new snow, and melt away
You land as lightly as the new snow, cinematic
Bathed in your radiance, I melt

I worked at a camp up in Alaska last summer called Trailside Discovery Camp (TDC), and on my very first day I was so excited. I would get to see former camp buddies, play with little kids, sing some songs, play games, and get paid for it. So I got in a little early just to make sure that all my paper work was in order, and then I went to morning care to chat with my old friends. Eight O' clock roll's around, and it's time for us to get into our groups. So I met my partner that I was going to work with, and she told me that when we introduced ourselves at opening ceremonies that we would say our favorite animal and make their call. While we were waiting for all our little kids to show up I thought and thought and fretted. What was I going to say? Then I had it, I would do a sugar glider and I would bark! Now its time for opening ceremonies to begin, and everything was going fine. My sugar glider bark turned out to be very entertaining, especially to my coworkers, the kids liked me, everything was great. I was just about to pat myself on the back for doing a good job, and then they called me up to sing a song. Have you ever had one of those moments when you just want to shrink, this was one of them… The song was "Flip Flop Went The Little Green Frog", I had not sung it in over a year, I couldn’t remember the words! Of course there were three other people up there with me that knew the words and hand movements, so I'm looking over at them for assistance, and meanwhile making a huge fool of myself in front of at least 200 kids and 20 peers. It was really bad! Not even an hour at the job, and I made a fool of myself. Now, I know the lyrics and movement by heart. The rest of the summer went wonderfully, but I will never forget that first hour of work!

Over the past year I have watched so many DVDs and Movies, its not even funny. Out of all of the millions of DVDs I have watched, one really does stand out. The name is, drum roll please....., I Heard A Voice by AFI. It is an exceptional concert they recorded live last December, I really recommend it to any music lover out there. The music, The words, are deeply moving.
The music, when I listened to it, it makes me want to just get up and dance around, but then when I really listened to the lyrics, they are so deep and personal they make my heart ping. I think the songs that really hit me was This Time Imperfect when he sang "I cannot stay here, I cannot leave, Just like all I loved, I'm make-believe Imagined heart, I disappear Seems...no one will appear here and make me real". The lyrics really moved me to tears. Also when Davey was singing Silver And Cold, when he stopped singing he made this gasp of pain as you can see below, that made me realize that he was singing straight from the heart, to all these millions of people out in the crowd, and millions more watching the DVD, like me.
What really struck me though, was during the extras they had people from the despair factor(official fan club) tell them how AFI affected them . That made me realize that AFI had reached out to so many troubled teens, and is endlessly reaching out to them through this DVD and maybe even saving lives, with their lyrics and music.
With the most of the music of today being "fluffy" and so oriented on sex and having a good time, this DVD reaches out to all of those who are having a bad time, maybe just a bad day, and lets them know ( let me know) they are not alone. That other people, people who you would not expect, feel the same emotions that you feel. It really makes you step back, ok so in my case I was sitting down so leaned back, and said Wow.
