So many reasons why we are currently in Iraq crossed my mind when I saw his campaign. My daddy, a soldier himself has been to Iraq once for about a year if not the whole year, and again he will be leaving once again and this timefor15 months. This is something that is normal for a military family, and you do get used to it after a while and when you become older you understand why they do what they do! My daddy is so brave going over there as well as so many of the other soldiers. Myself thinking that I would not be able to set foot on a plane that would carry me so far away from my family and with the thought that it would be my last time seeing them, that thought alone would make me want to run and hid, but they are the ones that get us through each day, and they are the ones that put there life’s out one the line and do it for the same country we live in.

When I saw this I asked “Dad, why are you really in Iraq”
He answered with a little curiosity “There are many reasons and it’s just a matter of opinion why we think we are out there”
And at that it got me thinking how can so many men and women go fight for something that they may not even know what it is they are fighting for?
My own father’s opinion was that they were there to catch Saddam and bring him to justice for what had happen on 9-11, but that has happen and yet they are still being deployed? What do you have to say to that?
I though about it and went out asked some family and friends why they thought we are at War with Iraq, and there were three answers that kept being brought up and they were:
First off was one I tried to research and I came up upon very bland material. Internet these days have so much false accusations that I wasn’t sure what to believe so it’s not much but maybe something for you to think about. George H. W. Bush (Sr.) former president of George W. Bush (Jr.) had started a while ago, when he was in office, a plan to go over to Iraq and see if they had WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction). Sending few troops then they came up blank, and now some people still think that they have some (his son) and they’re still looking. Not really what I think but a lot of family who was around and understood politics back then (lol). It was still a popular answer I kept hearing.
Second was a reason I haven’t heard of before and when I ran it across my dad said it could be a possibility. Oil Iraq has so much of it they are known for having the second largest amount, and it could explain why the cost of gas is going up so much around the world, but then again they say it’s because of the hurricanes? Who knows, but when I did find a site: (http://www.globalpolicy.org/security/oil/2002/12heart.htm) it had said a few things that would back up the theory of oil being the cause. “Oil is at the heart of the crisis that leads towards a US war against Iraq. For more than a hundred years, major powers have battled to control this enormous source of wealth and strategic power”
Finally the one most people know and are most familiar with is 9-11 now what can you say besides that Iraq was the root of the attack, but it wasn’t the people who did it, and surely we are over there to help them. Why else would we be, and were not trying to hurt them although some do in the process. They are there to show them it isn't right to just bomb other countries and post threat on them, how it affected so many people and killed so many, and how we are will to fogive them if they just cooperate with us and do what we do best "form a more perfect union" by making there goverment better in order to bennifit them, now all we have to do is get the people to see it the way they do.
My final though. We they are there because of so many reasons if not any, and sometimes I think that bush is a little crazy, and really has no idea what he is doing, but I do know that they men and women who go there go because the have to, and they do what they can to get home. We and I are so proud of them for doing what they are, and no matter the reason there will be endless prayer and endless love going out to you every day, and maybe one day we will finally know the truth.

Be sure to leave you thought abou this do you agree disagree, and be sure to stop by myageand look at the photos of my father before he left last year.

I pray for these soldiers all the time, every day, they are dying while are away from who they love. I am sad how the world is going, terrorism is killing the smile of the kids, it is taking everything away. I am Lebanese, I am a war child, I lived under the bombs and I saw people and children my age killed in front of me... I know what every person feel about what is going on, I know what this means to you Brianna. Thank you for the message, I will come back every day to check on this, God bless every one who is seeking for peace, everywhere. God bless your father and may he comes back safe!

I know this campaign has ended already. But I just want to say, that your blog is so true. Nobody really knows why we are there. My like 10 closest friends are military and I am a military girlfriend. It's confusing. But they have a job to do. It is not their choice. You CAN support the troops without supporting the war.

This is an interesting article. The adult that wrote this deliberately misspelled their poorly immitated child's narrative on a spell-checked word document before submitting some outdated frivolous ideas, which are so simple they're wrong, kid. Another piece that dwells on yesterday and creates self-loathing, which is certainly going to (not)improve our country's social & political health + economy. We are in today, we are America, we care. Don't submit to a global identity that you don't understand and, in fact, doesn't even exist.

This is a really good blog Brianna! You did some really good research! You and your dad are right, there are many reasons why we are there and it all depends on the individual and their opinion. I myself didn't know why I was there! A lot of answers came to me like, it's my job, this is what I signed up to do or maybe it was meant to be. Whatever the reason being I know I spent my time there doing good things. I'll keep your Father in my prayers! Take care Brianna! :)

There really are some many answers to why we are over there. My husband is in afghanistan so i know what youre going through. And its hard. I pray that everything goes good for you father. I dont think we will ever know why we are there. I dont think they will let us know. But at least your bringing other opinions to the table. Thanks for that. and please vote for my campaign. Thanks.

This is heartwarming, breathtaking, and true. So many people make the ties between Iraq and 9/11--even our own brave military are misinformed--and Bush continues to preach it. Iraq has nothing to do with the Saudi Muslims that attacked us with support of Al Qaeda--and terrorists weren't even in Iraq before we created the quagmire which was a catalyst for their movement to the region. Good luck, you have true potential! =]
