I’m a citizen, just like all of you.. and get this, I’m a teenager, but I’m mature. Now most people wouldn’t want a teenager for president, but why not?! I’m just as educated as the next adult, just as involved in the world, just as affected by the problems that face the nation as they are.. so what’s the difference?!
I would treat everyone fairly, because everyone deserves it. It doesn’t matter what you race, religion, etc. is, we’re all people and we all deserve the same chances in life. Everyone deserves to get ahead and make a good life for themselves and their family, not having to worry about who’s going to harass them next. I can personally say I know how it feels to be shunned because of the way you look. For awhile, I was really into the gothic/punk scene, I just loved the way they dressed and did their make-up, so I did the same. A lot of people didn't want to have anything to do with me because they thought I was weird among many other things. Even my principal became prejudice against me, and my mother had to go and talk to him. My personality never changed, my beliefs never changed, I was still the same Katie, just with a different outfit. I still like to dress like that some, but I like to wear other clothing items as well.
I would be honest. Honesty is always the best way to go, and I’m a strong believer in that also. Lies are not only sins, but they’re hurtful to not only others, but also to yourself.
As I mentioned above, I’m someone who’s going through the same things you are, I’m someone who you can relate to, which is very important. If you can relate to me, that means I can understand you and what you want. For example, I understand not having money. My family receives food stamps and Medicaid, there’s been Christmas’ we’ve done without.. I understand how hard it can be.
Another thing, help for the single-parent homes. My mom has practically raised four children all by herself. She’s in the process of going to college now, and has been trying to get her degrees for awhile. She is a strong woman.
Education, it is so important. You can’t do anything in this world now without it. I want better schools. The high school I’m currently going to is not a very good learning environment and I’d hate to see how many more schools are like this. We need better schools so that students will graduate from high school. And then we need more money for colleges so that students can afford to continue their education.
I could go on and on with traits that I would exhibit as a president, but I think you get the idea of it. Please vote for me!
