I want to tell you all about my mom. Like everyone else's mom she is wonderful. She is my biggest fan and supporter in everything I do in life. There is no way in just a few words here tha I can begin to tell you about her. But I am going to try and give you a few details on way I think she is the best! On May 22, 2006 my mom was very sick. We had no idea what was wrong. We ended up at the ER that day. They treated her like she had miagraine headaches and sent her home. But dad and I knew there was something else wrong. 2 days later she was still very sick. Dad made her go to our family doctor and he did a complete blood work up. It showed that her thyroid was not functioning correctly. She went on to have a radioactive thryoid scan which diagnoised her with Grave's Disease in her thyroid. The next 6 - 8 weeks mom went to the dr more than she has ever gone in her life! They treated her with radioactive idoine to kill her thyroid. From that day on we knew she was be on medication for the rest of her life. There were many days that just getting out of bed hurt her so much. The muscle pain was very intense. She battled the fatigue daily too. She was so phyically exhusted she would have trouble just moving sometime. Her eyes started to change too. She ended up with tri-focals just to be able to see. Mom has always been a BBW but had worked very hard to lose over 80 lbs and keep it off for 3 years. The thyroid condition has caused her gain 65 lbs back. That has been a stuggle for her daily. In December of this year she very sick again. We didn't know why either. Finally, at her drs visit in Jan they found her thyroid was "out of whack" again. We found out later that the local pharmacy had given her the incorrect doasage of medicine in Dec. What she had been taking was almost 1/2 of what she was suppose to be taking!! My mom works very hard everyday at the clothing store. All during the time she was sick in Dec she didn't miss work or one of my soccer games! She was in so much pain from her muscles hurting but she just kept on going! I think my mom deserves this break. But I know that all our mom's deserve a break like this for just being a mom.
