While my advice that I am going to give may sound controversial I will say that it has been an amazing life changing experience. Many women opt to have the screening blood test in early pregnancy to determine the chances of them having a child with Down syndrome and many other kinds of birth defects. After much consideration in the early stages of pregnancy my husband and I chose not to have this test done. We went through an amazingly easy pregnancy with minimal complications during labor and delivery. Happy and content, I gazed at the little person in my arms, unknowing of what was to come. Two hours after my son entered this world I was told about the possibility of Down syndrome. I was devastated and felt that they were wrong. Days past and my world was slowly coming back together, my son did in fact have Down syndrome.

While this may sound sad and depressing, I can assure you that he has brought only love, happiness and laughter to me and everyone around him. His name is Breckin. He is now two years old. If I had known as many women do, I would have been stressed and worried constantly about the unknown. I would have read too many scary stories about the possible defects and challenges that I would go through. Some women may even consider aborting the fetus inside.

So my advice to you ladies is that while we have the advantage of knowing the sex and the possible deficiencies in our unborn children, just consider the unknown and even though scary, this little person may bring you the most indescribable kind of love ever possible.

What a beautiful story of such a precious little baby boy! I'm so glad that you and your husband are able to show him so much love and except every little thing about him that some people may think to be "wrong" or "messed up", which is completly NOT true. I am often babysitting this little boy who goes to my church with autism(sp?). He is 6 years old and just now learing to talk. He is such a blessing to his parents, grandparents, and everyone around him. Great entry and here is my support to you! :)

Well, I've got to run to keep from hiding,
And I'm bound to keep on riding.
And I've got one more silver dollar,
But I'm not gonna let them catch me, no,
Not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider. (Allman Bros. Band)
