There have been so many words of wisdom that I have been told when it comes to Women’s health but the words from my grandmother have really had a lasting effect. My grandmother would always tell me, ‘to take Pride in everything you do!’ Even my mother was passed down with this mindset to always have good hygiene and make a good impression on others. Even though my grandmother was raised in a totally different generation the principle really does remain the same and especially today.
As women it is necessary for us to put ourselves as number one as who to take care of and give out attention to. Things have definitely changed where we have the power to make our own choices and take total control. We can do anything a man can do and even better. Eventhough some double standards do still exist unfortunately, don't ever be discouraged to go after what seems unacceptable for a woman to do. Everyone does have potential to be the best them possible and even when you may not feel beautiful or be in a good mood you should tell your self, "I am the Best and I believe in me." Taking pride in oneself means developing good habits to become succesful and live a fufilled life. Don't ever let yourself feel so empty inside or become to full of things bringing your health down. Always check yourself and ask is this where I want to be? or Is my health suffering in anyway?....and make the necessary changes to correct what may be wrong. Health is all about keeping a balance in all areas of your life such as socialy, environmentaly, emotionaly, spiritualy, physically, interpersonally and intellectually. I know and hope for the most part that every woman participating on Brickfish.com is trying to get the most out of life and doesn’t deal with others negativity.
Good health starts from the inside and that means through eating correctly, not in taking any negative thought or anything else that may be poison to us spiritually, physically and psychologically. How you maintain a good spirit is treating others good and doing others as you would like them to do unto you. When it comes to your psyche be careful who you associate with and who you claim as friends because people who dont have you at heart are really detrimental to your health.
To me the most important part would be physical health. This means your daily routines and what you do to stay alive such as what you eat, how you clean yourself and working out your muscles. More importantly who you decide to be sexual active with, and in this part of my life I choose abstinence because you can not tell what someone is affected with by their appearance. Moreover, my main reason for choosing to be celibate is because I am in the demographic that is high at risk to catch an STD or HIV which are African American women. So therefore I don’t even deal with going through the hassle of allowing a threat to my health. But for those who just can’t help themselves make sure to use protection and have your partner get tested along with yourself.
I really promote working out because it is just so empowering and you will feel great afterwards. Not only do you feel so good inside, your outside appearance will be nice. Going to the gym or just even walking or joining a sports team is the way to go. As women we definitely slack in this after high school which I sure have and found myself being out of shape. My advice is to keep some sort of routine going even when the days of playing sports was not required to get a grade to graduate from high school or even college for some.
All that I can give for my final words is that nothing is wrong with being selfish when it comes to your needs and placing HEALTH as priority #1. I love everyone on Brickfish, you are beautiful and I need you to be healthy because one way or another we all affect each other. When something is not right someone has to pay and I don’t want women to be the ones to continue paying the price from ignorance. Make sure to learn and practice all the ways that can keep and further your health. PEACE!!!
Love,
Jasmine
