On my 18th birthday, I hurried into the bank and got my own checking account with a debit card.  I had an ATM card before but this time I had the mastercard logo and all was well with my new ability to spend!  Things were going along nicely until I it came time to write my first checks.  I was nervous especially since I had to send one check to the IRS and a second check to the State Treasury (yes, even teens have to pay their taxes!).  Less than a week later I went to the ATM to get gas money and was OVERDRAWN!!!  I went inside and that when I got freaked out.  Someone, somehow got my card number and bought some things online which would have made my first two checks bounce if I hadn't had overdraft protection.  Anyway, the guy at the bank, who was really nice, closed my account, set up a new account and debit card and two months later I got a letter saying that the bank determined that an error did occur on my and "the provisional credit is considered final and represents the settlement of your claim."  Signed, ATM Services.  Yeah!
