I am a working full time student who is currently trying to save up money for school, so i thought i would get a second job as a mystery shopper on the internet on monster.com.  So the company sent me money orders, three money orders of 970 dollars each,  to evaluate a money gram location at a Walmart near where i live.  I cashed the money orders at my bank and sent the company back the money through the money gram and did my evaluation and reported back to the company, and they asked me if i wanted to do it again, and i said sure.  They sent me the money orders again and this time the bank wouldn't cash them, so i went to an amscot, they verified the money orders and told me that they were fake, that i was the victim of fraud and that i needed to go to the police.   I couldn't beleive what i was hearing. It took me a minute to hit me, i was so scared, i felt so used and stupid and hurt.  i went to the police station and filed a report, i felt so scared that they were going to come to my house and hurt me because i turned them in.  about two weeks later i checked my bank account and it was negative 600 dollars.  The bank just realized the money orders i cashed were fake and they started to take the money orders out of my account.  i called the bank and told them that i was the victim of fraud and that i have a police report and they said that it doesn't matter but the money orders were in my care and i signed for them so i need to pay all the money back , almost 3,000 dollars, back as soon as possible.  I said that it wasn't my fault , they said well "too bad" basically.  I have been trying to contact  lawyers but all of them that i talk to cant help me.  I checked my account a day or two later and the bank took ALL OF MY MONEY.  I had two savings accounts that i was saving up to finish college with, and they took it all.  I called them and said i was willing to negotiate a way to pay back the money untill i can find a lawyer that can help me. I said we need $200 dollars a month.  I said that i cannot afford that, that i can pay maybe 20 or 30 dollars max a month ,  number 1 because they already took all my money, number two because i already have bills bouncing because they took all my money, and number three i am trying to save up for school, pay rent, pay bills and, you guessed it, they took all my money.  they said that is not sufficient, we are going to hand over your account to a collections agency and now your credit is going to be affected negatively.  All becuase i tried to get a second job on the internet to survive as a young full time worker who is trying to save up money to go to school.

Wow, girl, I totally understand how you feel. I am a working student myself, and I pay for college all by myself, so I know exactly what it is like to have to save everything you have. I would have been devastated if that had happened to me, and I sincerely hope that everything works out for you in the end. You definitely have my vote and support! I hope you will check out my photo, too! =]

Wow I almost got sucked into that! I was going to be a secret shopper last summer but they wanted me to pay a fee to get a listing of locations to shop at. As soon as they started the first payment of $3 I thought, why do I have to pay to get a job. I'm the one doing the job, not them! So I called back the same number to cancel the "shopper job" They said I was off the list. And I canceled my debit card to make sure they wouldn't take any more money. For a WHOLE YEAR I got paperwork from the company. I was away at school and my parents had to weed through to make sure they weren't doing anything to jeopardise my identity. Everything turned out fine in the end. It seemed exciting, but a little sketchy so I'm got out while I could.
