Well to tell you the truth this isn't too long ago...so "i know i know, i should have thought about it " before you start to read it...Well, I am currently looking
DESPERATELY for a job preferably with the city, state, goverment, etc that could help me out with college tuition. So I started looking in the newspapers for goverment and city jobs. Now I dont know if anyone has this thing called The Flyer in their local newspaper but that's what my county's paper has for employment opportunities, private car sales and other random things. Basically the stuff that people usually look for in the classifieds. Anyways, there is a website for The Flyer by the name of TheFlyer.com so instead of reading the paper I decided to go to the website thinking that it would have more postings of open employment. I came upon an ad for goverment jobs. saying:
"
GOVERNMENT JOBS Earn$12-$48/Hour. Benefits, Paid Training. Homeland Security, Clerical, Administrative, Wildlife & more
1(800)320-9353 Ext: 2511"
Which is still up (http://www.theflyer.com/info/showdisplay.aspx?id=PC-04600755B-SCA)So I went right on ahead and dialed the number to see what was open. I was immediately was greeted by a superfast speaking operator asking for my name. So I gave it to them. Then they asked me what kind of job I was looking for. So I told them. They told me that they can arrange for a book to be sent with the information that I wanted for employment. Then they asked for my credit card name, the number, the expiration date and told me I was only paying for shipping and handling and that any charges that were charged for the book is 100% refundable if i did not get a job in 60 days. I heard the operator say $7.95 for the book.
First off, I knew something was fishy when they didn't send me my book in 7 days- it took 3 weeks to get to me after I called them 3 times with a serious attitude problem. Then when I finally got the book and I started to call some numbers, they were disconnected, some where just completely wrong numbers and some seemed as if they were people's house phone numbers! Websites that were provided in the book were bogous, non-existant, and fraud like websites that you have to pay to get MORE books and materials! So now offically pissed off after a week of trying to contact employers. I called them scamming people back and asked them what was the procedure for returns. They told me that I had to have proof that I did not get any jobs like proofs of letters saying that my application what rejected for hire and crap like that and that my 30 day period was up
(remember they told me 60). So basically I couldn't get back my money for the book!
Oh by the way when my credit card statement came, it had a mysterious $79.59 charge on it and no $7.95 charge. Now I'm $80 in the hole and have no way to pay for this fraud. ***advice**go to the place where you want to get a job and stop looking for 1,000,000 different ways to make it easier. I learned that the hard way.
