Being a college student, you try to get as much money as you can for your textbooks, knowing that the book store will give you half your money back or less. Knowing this, I decided I would try one of the biggest internet social sites: Facebook. Facbook comes out with so many new features every week and one of them was a way to sell and buy your textbooks from fellow college students or from other colleges. I set up my account and but my textbook on the market. I had spent some time trying to figure out the best price, seeing as I wanted to make money and knowing that college students do not have much of it I thought I put it at a fair price. Days went by and I waited for someone to email me and about a week later someone had finally emailed about this book. She had an indian name it seemed-so I am thinking "she" was from India and she seemed very nice and I told her she could have the book for the price that I had decided to sell it for, which was $45.00. So she emails me back and gives me this looooong list of rules about how I am supposed to send the book and when I am supposed to sell it. I thought to myself, "Self, this doesn't seem right". I went along with it anyway and sent her another email telling her that I would send it how she wanted but she had to pay extra for it. Once again, another email. She tells me that she overnighted her payment and that I had to follow her rules exactly which included:1. As soon as I got the check, I was to deposit it into my account.   2. When the check was deposited, I was to pay her "person", who I was assuming just someone who was taking it to her. When i read that I had to pay her person I thought that was weird, so I waited for the check. When I recieed the check, it was written to me for the amount of $3,000.00!!! I showed my parents and they told me that I could not deposit that check. We went over to the police station and told them my story. The officer told me that as long as I did not send my book that everything was fine. They said to just throw away the check and ignore the person.
