Okay, me here - I'm the Mom - 53 years young (the one in the middle [see the photo above this entry])! I have been blessed with two beautiful daughters, each with her own sense of style and yes we definitely clash when it comes to style! Although, please note, that there was a time when we coordinated outifits frequently (see photo #1)! The girls have assured me that ,if we win this contest, we will buy at least one coordinating trio of outfits.
Jessy who's 29, is also an avid Brickfish participant, she actually convinced me to start logging in. Merri, who's 19, on the other hand, will log in long enough to share some support, but that's it. We are all different sizes. Both girls are in college and tuition costs often overshadow the need for wardrobe.
A couple years ago I weighed over 300 lbs, there was no such thing as a good fit or a cute outfit, I was just BIG! I have lost a lot of weight, I still have more to lose, but I am working on it and I can actually find clothes that fit. I call my style Mommy traditional. Most of my clothes are hand-me-downs that friends gave me after the weightloss. So, a new wardrobe, wow now that sounds fantastic!!
Jessy is smaller than me, she loves to shop in thrift stores and often boasts of fantastic bargains that she finds on great clothes (Like the time she got 7 Jeans for mear pennies on the dollar!). Jessy's style is thrifty chic.
Merri is the smaller of our trio. Merri's style is college preppy.
The good news is -- We still manage to share some wardrobe items! Shoes, scarves, and handbags are plentiful at our house! Still there are definite challenges, like the time Jessy borrowed my favorite shoes and stretched them out soooo big that now I can only wear them with these HUGE thick socks (not exactly the statement I want to make when I choose to wear my favorite dress!)
The items we most often end up sharing are scarves, shawls, wraps, shoes, socks, handbags, totebags, and casual jackets.
Our most common day to day delimmas are:
1) Everyone wants to wear it at the same time (e-gads there are THREE of us)!
2) We have 3 colors and everyone likes the "blue" one best.
3) We disagree on how it should be worn - at the waist or at the hips, off the shoulders, around the neck, or tied at the hip (or maybe even in our hair!).
4) It's a pair and one is missing (shoes and/or socks) - OK who wore these last?
Thank goodness it's never a dilemma about sharing, both of my daughters are great about asking before taking.
If by some great stroke of luck and fortune, we win this blog contest, we will have to flip a coin to see which will daughter be my partner for the trip and all of these great prizes!
Ciao for now.
