(Mom at age 21, me at age 4)

“The Story”
My name is India and I am a 23 year old Legal Assistant that must dress professional throughout the work week. My weekends are a different story. You can catch me in flip flops, tank tops and jeans. For those special occasions I tend to dress more of my age with the bracelets and bangles, stilettos, novelty shirts and clutches. My mother, Christine on the other hand is a 40 year old stay at home mom who has never really had a sense of fashion until she wondered into my closet. My mom and I have always been the same size since I was bout 13 years old so it made it easy for us to shop for clothing. We have always swapped clothing, shoes and accessories. Our sense of style has managed to make us the best of friends especially during shopping trips. We find ourselves raiding each others closet for the perfect dress or shoes for the day.  My mom still attempts to mix and match with a little old and a little new, but she can never get the style just right. Maybe to her liking, but if she were pulled over by law enforcement she would be taking to jail for indecent exposure.  She always tells me that dressing the way you like to dress just shows that you have “individuality” and that it has nothing to do with setting a trend.

(Mom at age 40)
"The Accident"
Just recently my mother was in a severe motorcycle accident, which led to her sustaining two broken ribs, an open wound in her head which required shaving of her hair and 15 staples and bust nuckles on both hands as well as road rash on over 70% of her body. It is a miracle that she is alive, but it was a blessing from the Lord.  She has been seen by numerous plastic surgeons and specialist in order to make efforts to reconstruct not only her exterior image, but her interior image as well. Since the accident she doesn’t dress as if she is “alive” anymore, but as if she is approaching her death. She doesn't wear her tank tops and flip flops that coordinate with mine and make us look more like sisters than mother-daughter.  Her radiant, glowing skin is now covered with bandages and scars from her accident. I not only want this award for me, but for my mother so that she can regain what she once had…….STYLE!

Three-legged chicken Juan was driving down a country lane in his pickup when suddenly a chicken darted into the road in front of him. He slammed on his brakes, but realized that the chicken was speeding off down the road at about 30 miles an hour. Intrigued, he tried to follow the bird with his truck, but he couldn't catch up to the accelerating chicken. Seeing it turn into a small farm, Juan followed it. To his astonishment, he realized that the chicken had three legs. Looking around the small farm, he noticed that ALL of the chickens had three legs. The farmer came out of his house, and Juan said, "Three-legged chickens? That's astonishing!" The farmer replied, "Yep. I bred 'em that way because I love drumsticks." Juan was curious. "How does a three-legged chicken taste?" The farmer smiled. "Dunno. Haven't been able to catch one yet."

Not sure if I will have time to comment tomorrow before the voting closes, so I wanted to tell you that no matter what the outcome of this contest, each of you are winners. I commend you on taking the time, out of your busy lives, to share the information that you have about your daughter(s) or mom(s). I have read so many inspiring messages. Be proud, be happy, and when given a choice always take the high road. Blessings!

After Prometheus' theft of the secret of fire, Zeus ordered Hephaestus to create the woman Pandora as part of the punishment for mankind. Pandora was given many seductive gifts from Aphrodite, Hermes, Charites, and Horae (according to Works and Days). For fear of additional reprisals, Prometheus warned his brother Epimetheus not to accept any gifts from Zeus, but Epimetheus did not listen, and married Pandora. Pandora had been given a large jar and instructed by Zeus to keep it closed, but she had also been given the gift of curiosity, and ultimately opened it. When she opened it, all of the evils of mankind escaped from the jar, although Pandora was quick enough to close it again and keep one value inside: hope. We are so lucky to have HOPE--if not for hope--then what would life be!
