Starting as a freshman in a completely distinct city from where I am used to was the hardest and probably worst part of starting college. The only person that I knew I could count on in this hard time of my life was my high school boyfriend. We both started our college life together at Florida State University.

Although we only had each other in beginning I learned that one of the best parts of starting college is to meet new people, and the best way to begin is with a roommate. My first roommate was during the summer semester that I started college. We were both freshmen and had each other to lean on and learn every aspect of college life together. From then on I have had the best three roommates in college and now I am really close to all of them. I know that I can count on any of them if I ever need any help or just to “hang out” like going bowling on our very own bowling alley at the university!!

My roommates:

Amber was my summer roommate when I first began college. Even though we only spent 3 months together we are still in touch, especially now that she has graduated and moved on to a different state and began her working career.

This picture was taken on our first 4th of July away from home.

After Amber I was afraid that I would have a bad roommate since having roommates that are the complete opposite of you are one of the worst parts of college, but I was blessed to have had Stephanie. She and I got along together great. We liked the same music, movies, and food. It was the perfect roommate matching and was glad for that.

Starting my second year of college I was once again scared that I would end up with a girl that was nothing like me. When I found out her name was Stephanie too, I knew we would get along just great, and we did! We bonded so much that I wanted her to be my roommate my third year of college. Unfortunately she ended up staying back at home with her family. So I was once again going to have to go through the nervousness of whether I would have a good roommate or not. The great thing about it is that my new roommate is not that bad and I am lucky to have had such great people to live with throughout these three years of college.

One of the other best parts of going back to school are the games… I mean the football games. I never enjoyed football or the least bit even understood it until I came to college. Football is one of the essentials of college. You HAVE to go to the games!!

GO NOLESSS

This is now my third year going back to college and there are still good and bad perks about it. The bad perks being that tests, quizzes, projects, midterms, and finals are going to start all over again along with late night studying and cramming (sometimes). One of the good things of going back to college is that I have learned not to procrastinate; it gets you NOWHERE, all you get are headaches and tiredness the next day. But even though these things may not sound too appealing, the truth is that it is one of the most essential parts of college. I love starting a new year because I know I will learn something new and have different classes each semester. I am also that much closer to graduating and pursuing a career in medicine. For example this semester I am taking a genetics class and a family relationships class that I have been awaiting anxiously to take this entire summer.
The truth is I love going back to school every new semester and wouldn’t change it for the world. These are definitely the best years of one’s life. All I can say is, love and hate every moment of your college years; that is what I am doing.

Yes the anxiety of roommates, tests, projects, money, studying, and trying like all heck to still have a good time will never change. But you will learn more about yourself and all that you are capable of being and doing in these years than at any other time.

Happy Thursday! I've reread your entry several times over the days. As a high school senior, it gives me excitement and something to look forward to (except the tests).
