My brother had two soccer games this past weekend. Saturday was a home game. He's on a premier travelling soccer team through our rec department.
The country donated a lot of land for the new soccer complex which sits atop a beautiful hill. We call it 'Soccer Mountain'. So far it's looking really great. We just need some stands for the fans and something to kill all of the unwanted ants! They're taking over!
They played a team from up around Atlanta on Saturday. This was the first game of the season, so some were nervous, but everyone was ready to win! The first half stayed 0-0. There was lots of back and forth, but no goals. During the second half, the opposing team almost got a goal, but our amazing defenders and keeper kept them away. About halfway through the second half we scored! Gooooooooooooo Predators! The final score was 1-0 our favor.
Sunday took us to Lagrange, GA - a 2.5 hour drive....and with hurricane Ike passing through the Gulf and surrounding states, our gas prices went sky high - $4.99/gallon for regular! Geeez. We made it to the fields around 1:45 for the 3pm game. Now in the past, we've had serious issues with the refs/coaches/players in Lagrange, but Sunday's game went on without too many issues. There were a few players who gave our parents attitudes, but the refs were good overall. By the end of the 1st half, the score was 1-0, our favor. By the end of the 2nd half, the score was 5-0, our favor! The boys (and one awesome-tough girl) played their hearts out. My brother assisted in 3 of the goals. Everyone was soaked by the end of the game. It was 95 out with a heat index of 104! It was so humid you could hardly breathe! This is Georgia afterall....
My weeked was awesome! I had such a good time and took tons of photos! I'll try to include a few when I get home as the images aren't on my laptop. Next weeked we have 2 more games! I'll include an update then.
