Everyone who loves music has their favorite songs.  Every song has its strengths and many even have personal meanings for different people that influence their lives.

I think it would be great if we could all share some of our favorite song lyrics, whether they be chosen for personal reasons, for verbalizing feelings, values, heartaches, experiences or whatever it is.

Some ideas--a song that:
- helped you make a decision
- helped you cope at a difficult time in your life
- helped you decide what you believe in [politically, religiously, spiritually, socially]
- helped you see the world for how it really can be [positive or negative]
- represented something in your life
- was just so poetic and moving you wanted to share it

Part of the challenge with this is that many lyrics seem less powerful when on their own as opposed to with music.  I hope this doesn't discourage.  This can be part of a song, or the whole thing.  And by no means feel limited to one song!  As many as you'd like [within reason]!

If you feel comfortable with sharing why the lyrics mean so much to you, please do.

Please, no criticizing or using this to change/convert others to your way of thinking.  Just share, reflect, respect!

Here's one for starters:

Praise Chorus - Jimmy Eat World

Are you gonna live your life wondering,
Standing in the back,
Looking around?

Are you gonna waste your time thinking,
How you’ve grown up,
Or how you missed out?

Things are never gonna be the way you want.
Where's it gonna get you acting serious?
Things are never gonna be quite what you want,
Or even at 25,
You gotta start sometime.

I’m on my feet I’m on the floor I’m good to go.
Now all I need is just to hear a song I know.
I wanna always feel like part of this,
Was,
Mine.
I wanna fall in love tonight.

Are you gonna live your life,
Standing in the back,
Looking around?

Are you gonna waste your time?
Gotta make a move,
Or you'll miss out.

Someone's gonna ask you what it’s all about.
Stick around nostalgia won't let you down.
Someone's gonna ask you what it’s all about.
Whatcha gonna have to say,
For yourself?

This song actually helped give me the guts to approach a guy I liked for the first time in my life.  Granted, it didn't end ideally, but it was definitely the most I could have asked for considering he didn't return my affections, and we're still friends.

NOTE:  If you are just going to post "check out my entry!" reviews, please don't bother.  That is so completely annoying that you can't even post the title of a song in your sporadic combination of advertising and voting.  If you insist in being a nuisance, please do it on my profile comments so you don't get my hopes up of actually receiving reviews worth my time.  I don't mind those on campaigns for graphics, but the point of this is worthwhile responses.  Sorry to be a bitch, but enough is enough.  For those of you that have at least acknowledged the topic of this blog, but still haven't quite figured out what you want to post, it's fine.  That's not bothering me.

i love music and listening to lyrics but i don't know if songs really change my life or affect me. the only song i could think of was The Taste of Ink by The Used. It's about feeling like ur life is meaningless but getting over it and "living" again.

Is it worth it can you even hear me
Standing with your spotlight on me
Not enough to feed the hungry
I'm tired and I felt it for awhile now
In this sea of lonely
The taste of ink is getting old
It's four o' clock in the fucking morning
Each day gets more and more like the last day
Still I can see it coming
While I'm standing in the river drowning
This could be my chance to break out
This could be my chance to say goodbye
At last it's finally over
Couldn't take this town much longer
Being half dead wasn't what I planned to be
Now I'm ready to be free

So here I am it's in my hands
And I'll savor every moment of this
So here I am alive at last
And I'll savor every moment of this

And won't you think I'm pretty
When I'm standing top the bright lit city
And I'll take your hand and pick you up
[The Taste Of Ink Lyrics on http://www.lyricsmania.com]
And keep you there to so you can see
As long as you're alive and care
I promise I will take you there
And we'll drink and dance the night away

As long as you're alive
Here I am
I promise I will take you there

I have few. This is a very clever way to spark a conversation, bully to you :)! Here're my lyrics for this time.

It's never over, a kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder.
It's never over, all my riches for her smile when I slept so soft against her.
It's never over, all my blood for the sweetness of her laughter.
It's never over, she's the tear that hangs inside my soul forever.

"Lover, You Should've Come Over"; Jeff Buckley

These lyrics are basically some of the most emotional and most beautiful that I've ever heard in my life. The delivery is completely heartwrenching and carries me on clouds through to the end of the song. The song itself is absolute poetry. So, yeah.

Song: Unwritten
By: Natasha Bedingfield

I always love to see how music, lyrics, speak to different people in either similar or different ways. Expanding our mind to perhaps see something differently....

My View on the song....

This particular song is one that i like its how i see myself. i've always felt that when we come to this world we come holding a book in our hands. Within that book are many pages. The only permanent ones being the first one and the last one representing the day we are destined to be born and the day that we are destined to die. Between those pages the rest of the pages contain writing on one side and the other side is left blank. The written page represents the course that was mapped out for us to take, however, we can choose to fill in the blank ones which represent the actual path we choose to take through the choices we make through life.

I think this song reflects just that. At least to me it does. While many pages in my book have been written and the writting upon them can not be changed, there are still many blank pages that lie ahead for me. And so with pen in my hand i strive to fill in those pages. I love the way this song sends out that message. How it reminds us that we need to embrace life and not live it afraid to take chances and make mistakes. How it reminds us that no one can feel something for us, like the rain falling upon us, and no one can speak the words on our lips..

Natasha Bedingfield Lyrics

Unwritten Lyrics

I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, oh, oh

I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten

"The Calendar Hung Itself"

Does he kiss your eyelids in the morning when you start to raise your head?
And does he sing to you incessantly from the space between your bed and wall?
Does he walk around all day at school with his feet inside your shoes?
Looking down every few steps to pretend he walks with you.
Does he know that place below your neck that is your favorite to be touched
and does he cry through broken sentences like I love you far too much?
Does he lay awake listening to your breath?
Worried that you smoke too many cigarettes.
Is he coughing now on a bathroom floor?
For every speck of tile there's a thousand more
you won't ever see but most hold inside yourself eternally

Well, I drug your ghost across the country and we plotted out my death.
In every city, memories would whisper: "Here is where you rest."
I was determined in Chicago but I dug my teeth into my knees
and I settled for a telephone and sang into your machine.
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine

I kissed a girl with a broken jaw that her father gave to her.
She had eyes bright enough to burn me. They reminded me of yours.
In a story told she was a little girl in a red-rouge,
sun-bruised field and there were rows of ripe tomatoes where a secret was concealed.
And it rose like thunder, clapped under our hands.
And it stretched for centuries to a diary entry's end where I wrote,
You make me happy oh!! when skies are gray
You make me happy oh!! when skies are gray and gray and gray.

Well the clock's heart it hangs inside its open chest with its hands
stretched towards the calendar hanging itself but I will not weep for those dying days.
For all the ones who have left there are a few that stayed.
And they found me here and pulled me from the grass where I was laid

Bright Eyes

I want to live in Connor Oberst's head.

Here are some more bright eyes lyrics. These two parts are from "Lime Tree"

"Since the operation I heard you're breathing just for one
Now everything is imaginary, especially what you love...
So pleased with a daydream that now living is no good
I took off my shoes and walked into the woods
I felt lost and found with every step I took"

I'm not being funny, but the lyrics to "Three is a Magic Number" are beautiful. Think about it:

"A man and a woman had a little baby,
Yes they did. They had three in the family.
And that's a magic number"

Just beautiful!

Hey Luna ... getting in another vote for you and a thanks for writing this blog. It was interesting to read how one person felt from the lyrics of a single song, and how meaningful those lyrics continue to make them feel today!

i feel so random posting lyrics by people like lindsay lohan, when others are posting about the beatles, LOL. i honestly don't care though because this young woman is wiser than most give her credit for and she cant write killer songs!

"my innocence" - lindsay lohan

I was born a fighter
i was born on a rainy day
ive had my share of pain
but youve missed most of that
so many other things you ahd to do
you looked after you
do you remember what u did
did you know what youve just missed
do you care about that word i have to say?

you took my innocence away and never had a chance to
you broke me in with your mistakes and thanks for the break through
but you wont bring me down
i always am around
you took my innoncence away but the best of me stayed

It could be your blood running through all my vains
that ties me to your fame
if i could just close my eyes
id blackout all the reasons why
were still in this place
what u want is what u got
you should have dragged to make it stop
i quess you couldnt find a way to let me earn

you took my innocence away and never had a chance to
you broke me in with your mistakes and thanks for the break through
but you wont bring me down
i always come around
you took my innoncence away but the best of me stayed

lonelyness have filled my sole
and it kreeps inside it takes control
and i dont know how to begin giving up on everything

you took my innocence away and never had a chance to
you broke me in with your mistakes and thanks for the break through
but you wont bring me down
i always am around
you took my innoncence away but the best of me stayed
