Here's my rant - Can anyone have fun without alcohol being involved anymore? Has society and the overwhelming wave of low self-esteem young people are raised with made it impossible for this to be possible?

I spent five years in the military and everyone I knew needed alcohol to have fun. I had two or three friends that didn't but they were also 26+ and had children or at least a spouse. So now that I am going to college I've discovered that it is even worse outside of the military - something I did not think was possible. I have yet to hear of one thing that the members of my diving team or roommates have done to have fun that did not involve alcohol.

I think it is terrible and a shame and pathetic that young people today think that the only way they can have fun is by involving alcohol. There are those that cling to religion and activities that entails but why do you have to have religion or alcohol to have fun?

That has been my rant for almost 8 years and I'm wondering if it will ever change.
