The cost of Life ...?
Description:
Who knew that you could actually slap a price tag on life itself? a price tag with multiple digits too?! Our system is flawed. Health care costs too much with or without insurance and the care we receive is half hearted and unreliable. This has to stop! **please read the "review" from me below at least once...it really clarifies my train of thought on this**

I just wanted to let you guys know a little more where I'm coming from...first off, at least we have some sort of health care in America and have the option/availability to get healthy and often live into our 70s+ years. However, as seen in the movie "Sicko"...there are better ways to do it. My biggest issue with health care right now is the lack of efficiency...I have really lost trust in hospitals and doctors. Last summer my mom spent a week in the hospital for some scary blood clots. First, I would like to let you know THEY LOST HER ORIGINAL BLOOD SAMPLES! She was immediately put on medicine after they realized there were clots and so samples of her original blood that had clotted were needed in order to try to figure out why it clotted and how to fix the problem. THEY GOT LOST! She was put on Cumadin for a year, recently went off of it, and we are currently waiting for it to clear her system so they can test her actual blood as her body makes it and try to figure out the problem. WOW...HUGE ERROR! Also, in the hours I visited her, I witnessed many inconsistancies within the hospital...one nurse said she could die if she ate salad, then later a nurse brought her salad! She was told "someone will be in to take blood samples shortly"....and they didn't show up until the next day!! Things like this made me so mad...it's as if they don't care. My other big issue with health care is the ridiculous price! There is no such thing as a painless routine check up...any trip to the doctor, any pill put in the mouth, and even a pair of warm socks for a patient, makes a HUGE dent in the wallet - with or without insurance. It is sad people pay a lot, can no longer expect much in return, and are also denied health care for some minor "pre-exisiting condition" (these are the people that need it most). I'm not entirely sure what exact system we need...but we need something new. Life, a gift, shouldn't cost you your life savings, an arm here, a leg there, and maybe a kidney for an extra wad of cash. It's sad.
