I Scream for Ice Cream
Description:
Ah, such an angelic picture of such a loud and brash little kid. One of the most uncontrollable children I met last summer at camp. The only time I ever really saw him happy and content was when this picture was taken. One of those truly ONCE in a lifetime moments.

Laura is amazing. She did a photo shoot with my sister and was wonderful. She has a real eye for photography that one should envy and enjoy. I think that she is by far one of the best rising photographers that i have seen. Her photos show much emotion and she really captures the situation! i love her work!

Many emotions come to mind, and many scenarios that are not actually depicted can be playing out. Though the description tells us it's a little boy, who is uncontrollable, I see pure joy...a starving kid in a third workd country, eyes that vary with emotion from complete and utter contentment, to I'm a sad little kid and this is a brief moment of happiness. I could stare into his eyes, and see to the ends of the world and farther. This picture captures the depth of his eyes, with the foreground (the icecream on a spoon) almost not being that important, fading into the back... as if the focal point was indeed his eyes, and not truly the little boy and his spoon. The joys of being young. :)

I appreciate how sharp / crisp this image is--especially the subject's eyes---while maintaining a soft element, as well (specifically down by the boy's t-shirt. The composition of this photograph is really well done---I enjoy looking at it every now and then and noticing details I had missed before (like the freckles on his nose, or the parts in his bangs). Overall, a really good photo that is deserving of a much higher ranking.
