Oedipus
Description:
Nearly 8 years ago, my boyfriend and I were walking along a city street in Ohio and having a random conversation. At one point, my boyfriend likened our topic to the Oedipus complex, only pronouncing it incorrectly as O-di-pus with a long "o" instead of it being silent. It cracked me up and, always wanting a pug, I told him then that whenever I got one, I would name him Oedipus (pronounced incorrectly, of course.) In 2006 I married that man & earlier this year we finally got our pug. He couldn't believe I remembered that exchange. Now, whenever we tell people the pug's name, they give us funny looks as if to say "these idiots don't even know how to pronounce their dog's name!" We just laugh.

Yikes! So I guessed you missed the point of this that it was for fun and you're supposed to get your friends to vote. However, the be honest, if you check out Oedipus' fan page on Facebook, I don't know about 1/2 of those folks, so no, they were not all my friends that have been voting. That's the point of a viral campaign. I find it a shame that you felt the need to respond this way, especially after I tried to help you on your page. Besides, you realize that whoever comes in first isn't necessarily going to be the winner right? The Limited picks the winner, so there's no need for such a response. This is supposed to be fun.

Hi - I'm the owner of Fisher and that wasn't me who posted that comment - all I know is there were some very rough comments that we all fell victim to - I assure you they weren't from me and I had fun with the contest despite the craziness - #2 or any other number for that matter- I think we both have winning dogs - great names and great pics - Sincere Congrats on getting the highest score

Apologies for thinking that was from someone on your entry. After the comments I got on here, Twitter and Facebook, I thought it was more of that ... Just like Oedipus supporters, I guess Fisher supporters are pretty dedicated. I was just amazed at some of the nastiness and foul language that people used for a fun, online contest. Guess it means we have some pretty great animals. Granted, Oedipus will never beat Fisher in the high jump, but I bet he could take him in a staring contest ... After all, which eye do you stare at!

Where is this labeled a cute dog contest? It clearly says "Fabulous Pet Name" contest. And the point of the contest was to use social media to get people to vote for you, so your entire comment is pretty pointless. You're going to bitch because she did exactly what the contest called for?

Thanks to everyone who voted! And if you haven't already joined, Oedipus has a Facebook page. Please swing on over and visit him there. We've had a blast getting to know all of you. Whatever happens with the judging, we had fun during the voting and appreciate all the kind, funny and supportive reviews. Happy New Year! http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=187395721828
