Sued by the RIAA!
Description:
I think my story is the Internet fraud of all time – and 1000's of students are in this boat with me! As a UW freshman, I was looking for a cheaper legal alternative to iTunes, and came across an ad for a service called Frostwire. It promised that a 1-time price of $34.99 would get me unlimited legal downloads. I thought this was a good deal for a starving student! Over many months, I downloaded 296 total songs but was later sued by the Recording Industry Association for 8 of them. The RIAA extorted $4000 of my tuition money via credit card to settle AND I had to delete the 8 songs! On top of that, Frostwire is actually FREE I later found out, so I was actually ripped off three times!
