I Dream of Percieved Beauty
Description:
As many girls, in this day and age, I understand the difficulty in seeing one's self as beautiful. Many times I look in the mirror and feel a sense of shame rise up in my body. Unlike the girls in magazines, movies, on television or wearing their Homecoming Queen crowns, I am not a tall, thin, tan woman. So I dream of a day when curves are praised; where every inch of a woman is cherished and respected. I dream of a day where a size "0" is shocking, rather than commendable. I dream of a day where woman of all shapes and sizes can exude the sexiness they entail and smile into a camera as I do here, knowing, "I am beautiful, sexy and worth much more than a (size) "zero."

I couldn't agree more, although I don't understand how people find a size zero not shocking! Lol, that is teeny tiny, it can be natural..but should never be something a girl tries to make herself able to fit into. Girls everywhere aren't healthy even though they have access to quality food and meal times, it is because of media's perception of what is beautiful that screws with girls' heads all over the world. Sorry, but that just bothers me...in the magazines, the girls may start out pretty but they are airbrushed beyond BELIEF and no person can be that flawless, it just isn't human! You are simply stunning. You have a face that appears, to me, to be one of confidence and knowing that you are of value. Your self worth should never be defined by others or what culture percieves beauty to be. It should be defined by you and only you. Sorry I just had to get that out. (I started looking at definitons in the campaign and yours was the first one that I noticed and wanted to read about) Good luck on your campaign, I am WLing this picture, good luck!

Great entry! I can't even explain how much I agree with you! I hate it how media portrays the need that women have to be skinny, etc. It's just not natural half the time! Best of Luck!!! ~ Alex

I love this!! I just did a presentation in one of my classes about body image and all the negative ways our society influences people. Younger girls today need more positive role models that show them it's ok to be a NORMAL, healthy size....because otherwise, teenagers and young adults are going to continue to die from anorexia. p.s. you're really pretty =]

Red alert, red alert, the crazed Broccolite is at it again, running in the streets, eating any broccoli it can find! Keep an eye out it is supposedly adorable, but don't let it trick you. It steals broccoli from babies if it gets the chance! Shhh..it's right..behind..you!!!
