Midnight Flower
Description:
I was walking in my neighborhood a couple of years ago and I noticed my next door neighbor had this flower in his garden. As soon as I saw it I knew it was the most beautiful flower I have ever seen. I RAN inside my house, found my camera and took a picture of it. To this day I always peek into my neighbor's yard to see if he has more flowers like this one but it seems as if I was in the right place at the right time. I also have this photo on my website at deviantart.com

WEEKLY REVIEW: "If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome."
Anne Bradstreet, 'Meditations Divine and Moral,' 1655, American poet (1612 - 1672)

WEEKLY REVIEW:
"However mean your life is, meet it and live it: do not shun it and call it hard names. Cultivate poverty like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Things do not change, we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts." ~ Henry David Thoreau

And sings the tune
Without the words,

quote of the day:
"When to soft Sleep we give ourselves away,
And in a dream as in a fairy bark
Drift on and on through the enchanted dark
To purple daybreak--little thought we pay
To that sweet bitter world we know by day."
~ Thomas Bailey Aldrich, Sonnet - Sleep

"Fair flower, that dost so comely grow,
Hid in this silent, dull retreat,
Untouched thy honied blossoms blow,
Unseen thy little branches greet;
...No roving foot shall crush thee here,
...No busy hand provoke a tear.

By Nature's self in white arrayed,
She bade thee shun the vulgar eye,
And planted here the gaurdian shade,
And sent soft waters murmuring by;
...Thus quietly thy summer goes,
...Thy days declinging to repose.

Smit with those charms, that must decay,
I grieve to see your future doom;
They died--nor were those flowers more gay,
The flowers that did in Eden bloom;
...Unpitying frosts, and Autumn's power
...Shall leave no vestige of this flower.

From morning suns and evenign dews
At first thy little being came:
If nothing once, you nothing lose,
For when you die you are the same;
...The space between, is but an hour,
...The frail duration of a flower."
~ Philip Freneau, The Wild Honey-Suckle
