Photo -  Submitted for:  Planet Beautiful
A True Brushfoot
Description:
The most beautiful place on Earth, I've found, is right below my feet, in the grass of my fields, in the bosom of the Earth, the home of my soul. What could be more beautiful than one of nature's simplest - yet most endearing of creatures?

Brilliantly done. Great work on the black/white contrast behind the colored beauty. Is this completely photography, or is this photoshop? If this is just raw photography, that's insane. If it's photoshop, it's still really effective, and I think this stands out among many of the other entries. Nice:D

I get so tired of boring, everyday photographs that any five year old with a decent camera can take. This picture, however, breaks away from the ordinary and catches the viewers eye in ways that a normal photograph could not! I love the artistic flair that you infused into this picture! Excellent job!!!

To me this photo is a message about looking beyond the mundane to see the beauty that surrounds us every day. Really beautiful and thought-provoking.

How can this be called a photograph when its been altered by computer to add more meaning to it? If it had the meaning to begin with, it wouldn't need to be modified to emphasize it.

Well I would just like to say that firstly before the picture was altered as you put it, it still had the same amount of meaning. The altering only changed the contrast of the picture so that the viewer could focus on the beauty of the butterfly. Second, almost all professional or good armature pictures that are good have been edited at least slightly to improve the contrast and brightness and sometimes tone of the picture so that the beauty of the scene is truly represented by the image. A really good photo of a beautiful scene can look horrible when put online or printed due to tonal problems with computer screens or printers. I don't think anyone should be so thickheaded not to realize that most good pictures have been "altered" or "adjusted".

This is a great find - both the Brushfoot Butterfly and the most beautiful place.
