It was just a matter of time...
Description:
My parents run marathons so it was just a matter of time before I would, too. After retiring from collegiate running, I signed up for the Chicago Marathon. 10 weeks before the Big Day, I injured my Achilles. I was bummed to be out for 8 weeks, but stayed positive and cross-trained. With 8 days until the marathon, I tried running and was able to run pain-free for 5 days. The night before, my dad told me that the 2007 Chicago Marathon would be hard to finish due to the heat. On race day, we maintained an 8:30pace until mile 17; the heat had gotten to my dad. My mom decided to jump in at mile 18 and ran until mile 23 with me! My dad jumped back in at 23 and we finished my first marathon TOGETH

Good Luck, Jacqui! Your drive and motivation has already made you a winner! Not too many people have the determination to do what you are working so hard for! I say....Keep that negative comment poster coming! The great thing about the person posting the negativity......everone supporting you is having a laugh at their expense! The more negativity they bring, the more infantile and pathetic they look! I'm embarrassed for her/him.
Keep up the hard work, Jacqui!

Hi Jacqui! I typed in a few comments to your profile page and for some reason they are not showing up so I thought you would see it here. You have a great entry and don't worry about all the haters, the bottom line is that when people do that they are jealous! On your profile page to the left it will say Communications and it will probably say you have new messages and a friend request...that's me! So take a look at my message I sent and accept the friend request if you like! let me know when you have read my message..that was the message I was talking about when I left the comment on your profile page not the one I left when I voted! Keep going the distance! =]

It's pretty unbelievable the amount of self promotion that you do Jacqui. Not only for a stupid contest like this (which you don't deserve to win at all, every runner or athlete for that manner has this type of story) but also on facebook. No one cares that you are an average runner who runs average times. HAVE SOME HUMILITY. You aren't an Olympian, an All-American or even a local champion. You are a loser who thinks you are hot shit. You aren't even luke warm shit. Get off your high horse Jacqui.

Sounds like Jacqui beat this person in a race. And, as they've so eloquently proven in their unprompted and irrational slander tirade, in life.

First of all, the point of this contest is to get the word out in as many ways as you can. Obviously, Facebook is one of the biggest social networks on the web, so that is the easiest way to get the word out. This is the only time I have ever entered a contest that would be possibly won by getting the word out to as many people as possible, so I did just that.

Last time I checked, my story wasn't about how "good" I am; it was about a great experience of running with my family. And not to be mean, but NOT every runner or athlete has this type of story... I'm pretty sure not EVERY runner or athlete has parents that take pride and compete in the same sport that their child does. Sorry that you don't come from a running family and could never even BEGIN to understand why my story means so much and is something that my family is proud of.

I also don't ever recall thinking or saying that I am "hot s--t." If you REALLY knew me, or had any idea the type of person I am, you would know that. However, it has become clear through this post that you have no idea who I am as a person. If you really had this much of a problem with me, why not just confront me about it instead of being annonymous on MY campaign that my family, friends and students see? That was very unthoughtful and mean. Who are you???
