I have always been a huge U2 fan.  When they came to UMASS in March of 1982, my friend & I hesitated, & lost the chance to purchase tickets.  This was during the "October" tour.
     The same week,  she returned to NY with me to stay for Spring Break.  It was that evening my then -boyfriend called--my friend Lauren & I could double date with his friend who had to do stage crew for U2, or--if we didn't want to go to the concert, we could all go roller-skating instead.  You can see by the photo which I chose.  I guess I am  also dating myself with roller-skating.  Life was simpler back in the 80's.
    As a matter of fact--this was taken  on Lauren's  pre-digital camera.  I don't have the negative, so I have to keep scanning the original copy.
     This was seriously one of the coolest moments of my life--we sat on the side of the stage all evening.  We even gave them water in between songs..  I remember when I asked if we could take a photo with him, Bono (but back then everyone was calling him Paul ) answered yes, as long as it didn't end up in a Soap Box ad.
      This photo was on my bulletin board all 4 years of college, spent time in my wallet, & was put in an album once the kids came along.
        It is nice to air out almost 26 years later to remind me of a night that was totally amazing!
I still see U2 on every tour, but I know I will never get quite this close up again!!!!!
