I'm an animal advocate and spend far too much time looking into the current issues. I own a number of rescue pets, most notably my puppers Cooper. He makes the world go round! I have a personal youtube account (no professional work on it) that's become the all-Cooper all-the-time channel. Woops!
I'm also an avid cook - I consider myself an uneducated gourmet, an epicure, a culinista, and have a cooking/food photography blog (that I've not been good at updating lately) where I write original and tested recipes with their corresponding photographs and usually with Cooper by my side (see examples of photos below).
I'm a creative professional and recent college grad, working while I apply to graduate school and that's how I found Brickfish. I may have worked on something you've seen on tv or in a theater. I may have actually been IN that thing you saw. I wont' go into that here. I take lots and lots and lots of pictures. It's something of a compulsion. I wont' claim to be a great phtographer, but my entire life I've been trained in visual arts and media, so I don't think i'm a n00b either. My friends used to be annoyed that I was always snapping pictures of trips, events, and just random hanging out. Now, as we've all grown and moved various places in the world, they thank me for keeping such thorough memories.
I am proudest of my friends and family - whose love and support is evidenced by the immense showing in my entries (namely the Recipe for Puppy Love). I love to help people when I can; I find joy in helping others find work, rentals, research things... and I've spend a lot of my time volunteering locally and abroad. I once heard a motto that I like to live by: "I only look down on others when helping them up." There's so much truth to that statement.
Speaking of which, in my b/w photo entries, you can see 2 snapshots from my volunteer experience in rural Costa Rica. I lived with a host family in a partially indigenous community. It was total emersion. It was the summer after my junior year of HS, and no one in my host community spoke english. It was incredibly trying and difficult, but I learned more about myself and life that summer than I can remember. I also volunteer at a number of film festivals. I can't wait for October for the next one.
And finally, one of my favorite things about Brickfish so far, is not the prizes - it's the friendships I've made on here. I know it may sound corney, but I proudly say that I have new friends that I'll support 'till the end.
And below are a few examples of the food I make and photograph. Enjoy!

Homemade dog treats with only natural ingredients, and a wheat-free alternative (beef base, carrot, peanut butter, broccoli, oats and flax... it's like dog crack)
