I was born and raised in a Georgia suburb through 5th grade. Grew up in a good ol' southern Baptist church. I was on the neighborhood swim team and a near by competitive gymnastics team.
I lived without my dad for 6 months while he worked at a hospital in Saudi Arabia. My mom, sister and I later joined him summer 2001, and the adventures began from there. September 11th came and things got a little shaky, but we pushed through and stayed up until the war in 2003 began. Until then my family and I traveled the world! England, France, Italy, Vatican City, Egypt, South Africa, Thailand, all were great times.
Our plan was to stay in Saudi Arabia for 2 years, but by the time the war drew closer it became too dangerous for us to stay. Threats, riots, car bombings, shootings. . . we finally decided we needed to leave when a British man was shot and killed a block from our compound, just because he looked American. So there ends that tale.
We moved to North Carolina to live with my grandparents until we bought a house. My family got tied in with a great church. I realized that it's not about the traditions behind religion but its about the relationship and faith one has in Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, the same yesterday, today, and eternities to come.
I felt so tied down in North Carolina, trapped in a cage. I had experienced the world and now all I had was this? But the Lord opened my eyes to something totally new. In 2005 I went on a mission trip to South Africa for a month and it rocked my world! The people were so thirsty for the truth, for the gift we had to offer. In 2006 I went on another mission trip to Panama for a month. We roughed it all the way from the islands and into the mountainous jungles, spreading the word of the Lord, and changing my own life at the same time.
Now I'm a senior in high school waiting to get out! I want to go to school to minor in Spanish and maybe major in public relations or communications. I want to study abroad somewhere in South America and/or in Spain.
But before I get there I have to work for it. I've worked at Dunkin Donuts for about 3 and a half years now, recently becoming a shift leader, and I also teach gymnastics. I feel like right now all my life is church, school, work, eat, and sleep. I've even put Prom aside for the SAT. I'm a horrible test taker and if I can get just a bit higher than my last two scores than I can get a scholarship towards my university I will attend after high school.
Until then I still try to live my life to the fullest. I love to snowboard, play mud football, go water tubing, and skydive. One day I want to hang glide, learn to surf, bungee jump, scuba dive, get married, raise a family, and enjoy life together and to the ends of the earth.
