I love so many things, pattern and decoration, gaudy shiny things, baroque and rococo furniture and interiors, kitsch, elegance both real and imaginary, irony, lowbrow materials and conversely highbrow materials, interior design, topiary, the decorative arts, old wallpaper and textile patterns, excess, greed, vanity, gaudiness, tchotchkes, contradictions, color, flora and fauna, antiquated words and obsolete objects, wonderment and the suspension of disbelief, the Liberace museum, industrial design, literature, old taxidermy, Bernard Palisy, Sèvres, Faberge eggs, cultural residue, paint by numbers, mass produced plastic knick knacks and geegaws, old houses, court dinnerware, Victorian sentiment, Meissen porcelain, bad taste, culture shock, my friends and people who I want to be my friends, wood paneling, Versailles, Capodimonte, Las Vegas, rhinestones and glitter, density and accumulation, thrift store junk……. The list actually goes on and on and on. I am not sure how it happens, but somehow this entire mess comes together in my brain and becomes new stuff.
