Profile Summary
My name is Mandy and I hail from the glorious, corn-bearing state of Nebraska. Some people call me the space cowboy. Some call me the gangster of love. The truth is, I'm just a offbeat, laid-back, opinionated, intellectual, free wheeling hippie. I'm really mellow. Kinda quiet. Rather spacey. But it's all good. I'm just kickin' back and enjoying the ride.

I'm a free thinker and a free spirit. I have a mind of my own, and I live in the moment to the extreme. I hate restrictions, baggage, and all that jazz. I'm also the world's biggest commitment-phobe. I don't really worry about anything, except politics. Libertarian represent!

I'm good at creative pursuits, but I suck at everything else, including life. I'm an artist. That means I'm always broke and I'll probably live with my parents til I'm 30. La vie boheme!!!

Anyway. That's a short rundown on the Mando.
Interests
General
Stuff I do :  guitar, singing, songwriting, writing in general, blogging, film-making, photography, ink drawings, reading, watching good films, performance, educating people on the benefits of marijauna, making comics, picking up random crap off the side of the road to decorate my room with, taking pictures with random signs

Dreams
My ultimate dream is to achieve purity and peace of mind. I have no desire for wealth.

However, if I was to acquire some wealth, I would buy a swimming pool and fill it up with those little rubber ball-bin balls.

My other dream is to become an indie rockstar and then mysteriously disapear without a trace, to never be seen again...when actually I will be hearding goats in Azerbaijan.

If that doesn't work, I'm going to start a llama farm called Mandy Van's Happy Llamas. On that farm I will have a big dog and lots of ducks. I think that's the only way I'll ever achieve pure happiness.

Music

I have a pretty diverse taste in music. Here's a condensed list of some of my favorites: Opeth, Neutral Milk Hotel, Ani DiFranco, Melissa Etheridge, The Dresden Dolls, The Fray, The Cars, Rob Zombie, Alice in Chains, REM, The Cure, The Goo Goo Dolls, Gorillaz, Three Inches of Blood, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Ben Folds, Rufus Wainwright, Porcupine Tree, Orphaned Land, The Doors, Pantera, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Billy Joel, Iron Maiden, Iced Earth, Devendra Banhart, Bob Dylan, Warren Zevon, Mickey Avalon, Primus, The Distillers, Santana, Kaki King, Mana', Nirvana, Symphony X, Young Galaxy, The Shins, The Decemberists, Nickelback, Kid Rock, Meshuggah, Simon and Garfunkel, Danny Elfman, Gershwin, John Cougar Mellancamp, and abundance of others.

Some of my favorites include: Sin City, RENT (I saw the real theatre production), V For Vendetta, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Breakfast Club, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Hours, Edward Scissorhands, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Apocalypse Now, Kill Bill, Hero, Donnie Darko, TransAmerica, Pulp Fiction, Children of Men, Fried Green Tomatoes, Beetlejuice, Weird Science, Amelie, Clerks, American Splendor, Big Fish, Garden State, Butterfly Effect, Chicago, Almost Famous, Mars Attacks!, The Matrix, Joe Dirt, Superstar, Wayne's World, Detroit Rock City, Twister, Hotel Rwanda, The Blair Witch Project, Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle, etc

People
I have two good friends. They are pretty cool.

Places
Nebraska is a very exciting state! Not. But here are my favorite places within it.

Beatrice, NE
: (pronounced bee A  tris, not BE atris) My birthplace, about 15 miles from the village where I live. It has a population of about 12,000, which is way bigger than my town of 447. It's a pretty run down, white trash town, Beatrice. But I love it anyway.

Shit-Taco Park: (Chautauqua Park) My favorite park in beatrice. Home of the Violent Ducks.

Taco John's: The Beatrice Taco John's is where we go to have deep, philosophical conversations over cheap tacos.

Cub Creek : The best watershed in Jefferson County. We go stargazing and camping there a lot.

Lincoln, NE : Nebraska's capital. Hand's down, the hippest city in the Midwest.

Places I'd Like to Visit :  I'd be pretty stoked to go anywhere outside Nebraska! Japan, New Zealand, Mexico, Italy, New York City, Seattle, Denver, India, Israel, Kenya, Nepal, Spain

Suicide Angels.wmv
This is a random video that I threw together one morning. It is about drug addiction and suicide. It called Suicide Angel because the story unfolds through the eyes of a guardian angel who showed up too late. Just in case anyone was wondering about the drugs, it's aspirin and flour.
