Grew up in Georgia for 13 years/ 
celebrated Black History for 13 years/
Never knowing enough about the struggles of my own people across the way/ the ones who got a full month of recognition filled with stereotypes, fun and games/
they never really knew us, the South still has much to learn./ Not only about Latinos, but about themselves 'cause for the truth they still yearn.
Yanked from the homeland called Aztlan so my father could put his life on the line/three colors to fight and die for but every year he decided to go forth/.
I'm proud now to be living in a place named after the great MLK JR/ a land of great diversity/ only problem is the discrimination's more subversive.
But I'm privileged to be receiving an education which lets me appreciate my past a present...
But most importantly to look to a future of helping those who are disadvantanged, east and west.
