Skateboarding is my life. I got a grant to teach young women (ages 8 through 18) how to skate. I offered the 8 week, 16 class program at NO FEE to the participants and provided (through the grant money) a free complete skateboard and skate helmet to each girl. I taught the history and culture of skateboarding on friday nights and i took the girls out skating on saturday mornings. One 8 year old girl from Iran went home to Iran after the program and taught her girlfriends there how to skate! Power to the ladies! Power to the people! Pretty much the best job i ever had. Proof that if you love something enough you can make just about anything happen. Work with the girls led to my 1 year in office as the Vice President of the Vancouver Skate Park Coalition. We were responsible for the Plaza skatepark being built in downtown vancouver BC canada. It was the 2nd park ever to be built in a downtown core of a city in all of North America (the LOVE park in Philly being the first). I also started a small skateboard company called Pashu.
