Dreams
Where to begin! I'm really fond of the quote "Imagination is intelligence having fun" because it makes life more optmistic, more colorful. A memorable occasion was when our peer counseling club went to read books to elementary school children. I read a Dr. Seuss book to them, and boy was it an experience I'll never forget! Children are so creative, so intelligent; their minds are like sponges, astutely yet innocently absorbing everything. With children it is all about communication- reach out to them and they will respond. One of my dreams is to become an elementary school teacher one day.
Coming from a dominantly spanish speaking background, I would also like to be a translator for Spanish and English speakers. I guess after years of translating for my mom whenever she went to appointments, offices...etc, I found that language and culture is a powerful barrier between people. (I can deeply relate to Amy Tan's "Mother Tongue" passage)

Miles Davis is my top jazz contender, followed by John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, Lena Horne, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong , Stan Getz, Charlie Parker...so many more!
When it comes to classic rock my tops are THE DOORS,/Jim Morrison, PINK FLOYD!!!, Jimmy Hendrix baby!, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, Queen, Rolling Stones, The Who, Carlos Santana, The Animals...the good stuff.
