My name is Shaneka Mariah Turner I am a fashion-lover soon to be a fashion designer. At the moment I am looking for a place in the fashion world to express my love for fashion. At the young age of 11 years old I was inspired by my own father, who has his own mens clothing store in Delaware, to be a fashion designer. It was those long days sitting at the back of my dad's store bored out of my mind that pulled me into fashion. I remember looking at the many clothing books that he had of mens' suits and wondering what other designs are there that haven't been drawn on paper. So I started with men suits but then realized that it was to difficult to express myself through a suit at that time. So then I decided to try women's clothing and that was the beginning.
I then knew what I wanted to do with my career, and it was at that age I started making my collection. From there my family did nothing but encourage me, especially my dad. At this time my dad was trying to start his collection for mens clothing and he wanted me to help him design some of his outfits. From that point on I have been involved in alot of fashion decisions and events with his business. I have had the chance to go to Vegas to attend the Magic Clothing Show, I have met J.Anthony Brown on several occasions, as well as many other designers and collections, and I have had the chance to design a suit that was supposed to be put into the J.Anthony Brown collection but it ended up somewhere else (Complicated).
The purpose of this page was to give people a sneak peak of what I will be bringing to the Fashion Stage in a couple of years, or even now.
